Exciting News ! Kenneth Quinn ,a new member, received the Air Medal at a ceremony at the State Department. We believe he is the first ambassador to receive the award which was for his heroism in the Viet Nam War where he served as a civilian military advisor as the Ambassador to Cambodia on over 50 combat helicopter  missions  during the War
 

We just received word about former civilian's awarded the Air Medal

FDR in 1943 awarded the air medal to two Civilian Air Patrol pilots  for an attack on a NAZI submarine submarine and General Hap Arnold in 1944 awarded the medal to Barbara Erickson the leader of a group of Wasp pilots who did stateside piloting so those male pilots could be released for combat duty.

Mission  Statement

The Air Medal Society will be an organization composed of members who as airmen were awarded the Air Medal for meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight

The Air Medal Society is dedicated to improve recognition of the Air Medal and those airmen who have earned this award.

The Air Medal Society will  provide fellowship by uniting the members and creating an exchange of information for their mutual benefit..
