BY-LAWS NAME AND OBJECTIVES A. Name The name of the organization is Air Medal Society B. The objective of the organization is to accept qualified dues paying members and with the funds created, improve the recognition of the Air Medal and the members who hold it. While doing so create a sense of personal accomplishment and a high level of camaraderie amongst the members. STRUCTURE The Air Medal Society is a General Partnership with two general partners Lee Stanley and Frederick Smith both holders of the Air Medal who provided the original capital for the Society. As the Society grows, a group of limited partners will be added to the management to bring diversified talents to the management team. The starting management structure is the Founding Members Committee who will select an administrator who will be delegated authority to manage the critical elements of the operation. MEMBERSHIP TYPES OF MEMBERSHIP 1- REGULAR MEMBERS Dues $35 annual $100 three years $100 life $250 Shall consist of qualified holders of the Air Medal who are current with their dues. These members will enjoy access to all activities of the Society 2- ASSOCIATE MEMBERS Dues $35 annual $100 three years. Shall consist of a surviving spouse and or children and grandchildren of a deceased holder of the Air Medal. These members will have all access to all activities of the Society . 3- TAPS “ROLL OF HONOR” Direct descendents of deceased Air Medal Holders may submit a one time fee of $35 to place that deceased Air Medal Holder on the web site TAPS feature page. MEMBERSHIP FEES A. The Founding Members Committee shall have sole power to fix levy and collect membership dues and to change the dues from time to time in the best interest of the Society. All dues will be collected on an annual basis July 1 to July 1 CHAPTERS A. As the increased size of the Society permits , local chapters can be formed . It is the intent of the Society that the local chapters will provide the impetus for implementing the Society’s programs for improving the recognition of the Air Medal. MEETINGS A- Local chapters will be encouraged to hold chapter meetings and conduct affairs of mutual interest of the members. Suggested procedures will be provided by the administration. COMMITTEES A- As the opportunity comes up Ad Hoc committees will be formed to complete a specific projects. Example are the ones , made up of members who will implement the recognition programs
PLANNING A-The present long term plan is to file articles of incorporation and merge the General partnership into a non-profit corporation managed by the administrator reporting to an advisory board made up of members This will open up the opportunity for obtaining donations to the Society
